Welcome
and thank you for your interest in Jacqueline's School of Dance
(JSOD).
JSOD
has been an established dance studio in the Durham region since
1984. Our current location offers four bright, spacious, and
climate controlled studios that operate six days a week. Our
instructors are fully qualified members of the BATD (British
Association of Teachers of Dancing). They are professionals
who continually educate themselves with new, innovative styles
and techniques.
We offer unsurpassed instruction in ballet, pointe, acro, jazz,
tap, highland, musical theatre, hip hop, and lyrical, focusing
on technique and musicality. Classes are organized according
to age and experience on both recreational and competitive levels.
Our Twinkle Toes dancers start as young as three years old while
there seems to be no limit to the ages of our adult dancers.
JSOD's success is due to the fact that we treat each and every
one of our dancers and their families equally and enthusiastically.
We recognize that our students are eager to learn dance skills
and technique while at the same time remembering that everyone
wants to have fun and feel good about themselves. JSOD has built
a reputation as being a "home away from home" for
our dancers.
Jacqueline's School of Dance has been the recipient of the prestigious
Ajax Pickering News Advertiser Readers Choice Award for the
Best Dance Studio five times since its inception 6 years ago.
Our dancers have shown their support, as have their families.
We are very proud of this award as well as the successes of
our annual spring Showcase "Dreams Do Come True",
the marks of excellence during our BATD student examinations
and the achievements of our Competitive and Elite dance teams
that travel and perform across Ontario as well as internationally.
From Twinkle Toes to the most advanced teens and adults, all
students are encouraged to reach their highest potential and
achieve excellence every step of the way.
Our annual calendar begins in September of every year, but we
do accept new enrollment on an ongoing basis throughout the
dance year, provided there is space and the inclusion of new
students does not disrupt routines. We welcome new and experienced
dancers to join us. Watch this site for class and registration
information updates in the late spring and early summer.
Another great way to introduce yourself to dance is to spend
a week at our exciting CAMP DANCE
which takes place during the summer. Ideal for those ages 5
through 16, the Camp is staged in our dance studio and other
community locations over a one, two, or three week session.
Campers arrive before 9am and spend the day dancing, acting,
improvising, painting, and swimming. Registration is limited
so call today for your registration brochure.
Thank
you for choosing JSOD.
Please let us know what we can do to make your time with us extraordinary!
Our
Teaching Faculty
Our faculty, is fully committed to your development and training.
You are sure to find a favorite teacher within this diverse group!
Our teachers each with their own individual background in dance
bring their expertise and knowledge into the classroom. Information
on each teacher can be found on our Faculty
Page
Our Administrative Staff
All staff members of JSOD work as a team to ensure the studio
is run efficiently and in a well-organized manner. All members
of our team love what they do. Their primary goal is to support
our growth and stability. For a list of staff, visit our Admin
Staff Page.
Class Schedule
Our
class schedule is a list of
the available 100 classes. The schedule is arranged by day. Each
class is listed with the teacher's first name, level, time and
day it is held. This schedule remains the same for the entire
2006/07 season except for minor changes during special events
ie, examinations, picture day and Showcase rehearsal week. Class
sign-in must be done prior to the start of class.
Performance Opportunities
We are pleased to present our Spring Showcase, "Dreams Do
Come True" in mid June of each year. Dancers perform with
their fellow students in a dance piece choreographed by their
teacher. It is a special day for parents and friends as they watch
their dancer transform from the "lesson taker" to the
"Star". Each class is costumed according to their routine.
JSOD works very hard with the costume companies designing costumes
which are beautiful yet affordable.
